Who is CAP?

CAP aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counselling, advice and practical help. CAP’s unique ‘hands on’ approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts. Vital financial and budgeting life skills are developed through our services, thus ensuring poverty relief is sustainable.

Why do we work with CAP?

Our partnership with Christians Against Poverty is because we believe in putting into practice Jesus words in Luke 4 that we are anointed by him to bring good news to the poor, release captives and set the oppressed free.  CAP is an award winning charity that helps people out of debt through budgeting and our own unique payment plan.  We provide on going help, support and love to all our clients regardless of their faith, race, age, gender, marital status, or disability.  In fact we can help anyone who genuinely wants to be free from the chains and poverty caused by debt.

Who runs the show?

Our centre manager, Nick Thomas is a passionate Christian who is absolutely committed to helping and serving people and enabling them to get through financial difficulties and come out the other side free. Before becoming the centre manager, Nick did this job for free for some time.

Nick says:

There are so many broken and hurting people in this world it is often overwhelming for Christians.  We feel we don’t know what to do so we do nothing, and many people, even Christians question whether there really is a God because of the pain in their own or others lives.  God really does have the answer.  Not to remove us from this world or turn us into mechanical creatures that he can manipulate, but to come and live on the earth himself, to know what it is to be a refugee, illegitimate, oppressed, beaten, homeless, hungry, tired and friendless.  Christianity is not about a ‘Father Christmas’ God doing what we ask him, it’s about us being willing to obey the call, to share his love for the underprivileged so that when he does put an end to it all we are ready.  God will right all the wrongs, he will wipe the tears from our eyes, there will be no more pain, we just need to tell others through our words and actions. Jesus does have a future for all our clients, we are privileged to be able to tell them about it.
